The Allergies - Mash Up The Sound

Time to nice up the place as BBC 6 Music A Listers The Allergies re-work some deadly dancehall vocals into party-starting hooks on their latest club-troubling single, ‘Mash Up The Sound’.

Taking cues from the house music and reggae fusion found in the early noughties, they serve up fresh funky 4/4 fever, twisting full-fat disco drums and FX around some speaker shaking bassline business. The unmistakable voice of the one and only Joe Lickshot takes centre stage, running the dance with his mighty mic presence.

The track follows hot on the heels of previous single, ‘Hypnotise’, which saw The Allergies flipping choice vocals from the Afrobeat ambassador, Dele Sosimi over a funky house beat, winning them high rankings in ‘Track of The Year’ polls at the end of 2022.

Both songs are taken from the forthcoming album, Tear The Place Up, which finds The Allergies in career-best form, digging into dance music styles alongside their trademark deep soul, funk, and feel-good hip-hop flavours.

‘Mash Up The Sound’ is also available as a limited edition 7” release. With a B-side bolstered by the vintage soul-sampling track, ‘Sometimes I Wonder’ – A trip into classic

Allergies territory, with tough drums propelling bittersweet beats across firing horn loops and chopped up deep south vocals from the late sixties. Also taken from new LP. BUY | STREAM Mash Up The Sound More The Allergies
